Name: Zlatan Todorovic-Grce
Length of Time with Legend Power: 1 Month
Job Title: Research and Development Technician
Erik: What gets you excited about the Haromizer-AVR technology?
Zlatan: What really excites me, is that, in my opinion, the Harmonizer-AVR is going to be a company standard when it comes to efficiency and power saving in a few years. It’s exciting to do research and development for a technology that has such potential.
Erik: I know it sounds obvious, but what are the top 3 benefits of the Harmonizer?
Zlatan: The benefits of the Harmonizer, starting with its main one, are:
1. It reduces your greenhouse gas emissions.
2. It can be installed without risk at a facility or disconnecting the power.
3. It saves you money.
Erik: What is the most challenging part of dealing with climate change?
Zlatan: Not having a wardrobe that is versatile enough.
Erik: What was the last conference you attended?
Zlatan: I attended a Legend Power webinar on Thursday January 28th, 2010. Hope to see you all at the next one!
Erik: What’s a creative talent you wish you had?

Ask an Engineer is a series in our blog that provides a behind-the-scenes look at Legend Power and the people behind our technology. Today’s engineer is Andreas.

Name: Andreas
Length of Time with Legend Power: 4 months
Job Title: Co-op Student, R&D Engineering Support
Erik: In your opinion, what is the greatest benefit of commercial, electrical energy conservation?
Andreas: The greatest benefit of electrical energy conservation is saving energy and money, and saving the environment by reducing Greenhouse Gases Emission from electrical energy generation.
Erik: What is a little known fact about Legend Power’s Harmonizer-AVR?
Andreas: That’s its simple. People may think that the Harmonizer is a very complicated and advanced piece of technology but the Harmonizer is simply a transformer that is meant to reduce voltage according to the AVR’s instructions. In other words, to compare it to a car system, the AVR is the engine and the Harmonizer is the wheel.
Erik: What are some places, companies or governments that you’d like to see initiating electrical energy conservation?
Andreas: The best location to start electrical energy conservation would be the electrical energy generation plant, because the basic principle of energy conservation is to reduce unnecessary power generated by the plant itself. Electrical energy conservation will also bring significant difference to places where huge amount of energy is needed, like warehouses and factories, because they tend to draw much more power than they need due to their massive loads.
Erik: What do you do in your spare time?
Andreas: In my spare time I usually play soccer, listen/play music or just hangout with friends.
Erik: What would your alternative career be?
Andreas: If I wasn’t engineering, I would open a small business, or continue my family’s business as a spare-parts distributor in the auto industry.

Ask an Engineer is a series in our blog that provides a behind-the-scenes look at Legend Power and the people behind our technology. Today’s engineer is Paul.

Name: Paul Han
Length of Time with Legend Power: 5 weeks
Job Title: Engineering Technologist
Erik: What is your top tip for electrical energy conservation?
Paul: Unplug any unnecessary home appliances when not in use, such as your TV, computer, phone chargers, etc. It’s a small but easy thing that everyone can do to help with energy conservation
Erik: What is the coolest thing you’ve seen while working on the Harmonizer?
Paul: I guess the coolest thing I’ve seen about the Harmonizer is that it works. It’s exciting to see something that could help push companies towards a greener path.
Erik: What is the bigger picture here? What does Legend Power bring to the world?
Paul: The bigger picture is to help companies make an important step towards becoming more energy conscious. Doing so doesn’t require some grand gesture but a consistent act of change and improvement. I think Legend Power provides that through our product.
Erik: What trend do you refuse to follow?
Paul: Yoga.
Erik: What’s your favourite activity outside of the office?
Paul: Reading a good book.

Ask an Engineer is a new series in our blog that provides a behind-the-scenes look at Legend Power and the people behind our technology. Today’s engineer is Keara.

Name: Keara Marshall
Length of Time with Legend: 1 month (started in Jan.)
Job Title: R&D Engineering Assistant
Erik: What’s one thing you’d like to change about Legend Power?
Keara: So far I have really enjoyed working at Legend Power. The people are great and I have been learning a lot. My one complaint is the commute! I live in UBC, so it’s an hour+ to get to and from work in Burnaby every day.
Erik: What is your favourite commercial power conservation example?
Keara: My favourite energy conservation example is the use of natural light as opposed to artificial lighting. Studies have shown that work done by natural daylight reduces a workers stress, error, and fatigue. Not only does this save energy, but it also increases productivity in the workplace.
Erik: What is the most frequently asked question about the Harmonizer?
Keara: A very common question about Legend Power’s product, the Harmonizer with an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), is “How much will I save on my electricity bill?” You can save anywhere from 6% to 10% on your electricity bill with the Harmonizer-AVR. You will also save money on maintenance costs as the life-cycle of your equipment is extended, and the environment reaps the benefits of reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Erik: What is your favorite activity in the office?
Keara: Eating! We have some pretty talented cooks in the office, and it’s fantastic when they cook lunch for everybody.
Erik: What are you reading right now?
Keara: Inhabitat is a daily must-read for me. I love green design and, as they put it, “Inhabitat.com is a weblog devoted to the future of design, tracking the innovations in technology, practices and materials that are pushing architecture and home design towards a smarter and more sustainable future.”
